Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a licensed Surgical Technologist to join the Surgical Services team at UAB St. Vincent's Blount.

The role focuses on facilitating safe and efficient surgical procedures and supporting the operating room team. Responsibilities include preparing the sterile field, arranging instruments, handing items to the surgeon, assisting with patient positioning, and maintaining instrument counts throughout procedures to ensure patient safety.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification preferred (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
• High school diploma equivalency and completion of a surgical technologist program with clinical component.
• Associate's degree or technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor and track instruments counts throughout procedures.
• Assist surgeons provision of hemostasis during surgery.

• Schedule: Mon-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, no on-call, no weekends, no holidays
