Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Surgical Technologist to facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures at the One Nineteen campus. Responsibilities include preparing the operating room, passing instruments, positioning patients, and maintaining instrument counts under the surgeon's direction.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalency and a surgical technologist program with clinical component or 4+ years of related experience; an associate's or technical degree

Qualifications

• High school diploma equivalency AND completion of a surgical technologist program with a clinical component OR a minimum of 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
• Associate's degree or technical degree preferred.
• BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor and track instruments counts throughout procedures.
• Assist surgeons provision of hemostasis during surgery.
