Job summary

JPMorganChase within Consumer & Community Banking is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (Software Engineer III) to balance hands-on development with operational excellence. You will build and run resilient, scalable services by combining software engineering with reliability practices across the lifecycle.

You will improve production stability through automation, incident leadership, and disciplined problem-solving, partnering with product teams to enable safe, repeatable deployments at scale.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience.
• Hands-on software development experience in Python, Java, or shell scripting for production-grade systems.
• Experience operating and improving reliability of distributed systems on Linux/Unix environments.
• Experience with cloud and virtualization concepts, APIs, and scalable fault-tolerant services.
• Experience building observability and diagnostics using monitoring/logging platforms (e.g., Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana).
• Working knowledge of version control and CI/CD practices with emphasis on quality and secure engineering.
• Strong incident leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted software development tools and secure coding practices.

Responsibilities

• Engineer and improve reliability for large-scale distributed services.
• Design and deliver automation to reduce manual work and strengthen stability.
• Lead response for high-priority incidents and drive post-incident reviews.
• Partner with development teams to enable safe, repeatable deployments.
• Implement self-healing patterns and capacity management for availability.
• Build end-to-end observability and alerting standards to reduce noise.
• Apply data-driven analysis to anticipate reliability risks and prevent issues.
• Support a balanced operating model with on-call responsibilities and collaboration.
• Leverage enterprise AI coding tools to improve quality and productivity while ensuring security.
• Apply SDLC tooling and AI-assisted development to enhance automation.
