Job summary

DAT Freight & Analytics is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join the SRE platform team. This hybrid role operates in Seattle, WA or Portland, OR, collaborating with development teams and platform architects to enhance reliability, scalability and performance of our cloud-based systems.

You will implement monitoring, automation, and IaC, participate in on-call rotations, and help modernize legacy components while driving best practices across the organization.

Qualifications

• 2 to 4+ years of industry experience in SRE/Platform Engineering
• At least 1 year of traditional software engineering experience; Typescript/Javascript preferred
• Experience with modern observability tools (Datadog preferred)
• Experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS)
• Proven ability to contribute to large technical initiatives
• Experience modernizing legacy code and infrastructure
• Ability to collaborate with peer teams, architects and management
• Willingness to share expertise and uplift peers
• Understanding of cloud infrastructure, automation, reliability best practices
• Experience with Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Terraform and Github Actions a plus

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable, reliable systems
• Identify and troubleshoot issues across distributed systems
• Advocate for SRE best practices including automation and monitoring
• Participate in capacity planning and performance tuning
• Leverage AI tools to assist with coding and observability tasks
• Respond to critical engineering incidents and improve resilience
• Guide use of cloud infrastructure and tooling; contribute to IaC
• Drive reliability-focused initiatives with Platform and Software Engineering teams
• Support customer-focused improvements and feedback loops
• Migrate legacy systems to modern cloud environments
