Job summary

Google Durham, NC is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager for Site Reliability Engineering to lead a team responsible for uptime and performance of critical services. You will own end-to-end availability, mentor engineers, and drive automation and reliability initiatives.

This role requires strong distributed systems and software development background with leadership experience; in-person interviews are common, with preferred locations in Durham or Raleigh, NC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of software development experience.
• 3 years of people or team management experience.
• 3 years designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed systems.
• 3 years leading projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Software/Systems Engineers on uptime-focused projects.
• Own end-to-end availability and performance of key services; build automation.
• Mentor team members and establish credibility through technical execution.
• Manage on-call rotations across continents using follow-the-sun model.
• Design, write and deliver software to improve availability, scalability, latency and efficiency.
