Job summary

Google is seeking a Software Engineering Manager for Site Reliability Engineering in Durham, NC. You will lead a team responsible for uptime, availability, and performance of key services, and drive automation to prevent problems.

The role requires deep experience in programming, distributed systems, and people leadership. In-person interviews are typical; candidates may share preferred working location (Durham or Raleigh).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, related field or equivalent experience.
• 8 years of software development experience in one or more languages.
• 3 years of people management experience.
• 3 years designing and troubleshooting distributed systems.
• 3 years leading projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Software/Systems Engineers on uptime-critical projects.
• Own end-to-end availability and performance of key services.
• Mentor team members and establish credibility through execution.
• Manage on-call rotations across continents with follow-the-sun model.
• Design, implement and deliver software to improve availability and efficiency.
