Job description

Blue Canyon Technologies, RTX's small satellite manufacturer and mission services provider, is solving some of the toughest challenges in space. Position Purpose:The Sr. Test Technician has the responsibility for supporting test engineering tasks associated with the development, qualification, and acceptance testing efforts of spacecraft systems/electronics. This technician would be working in a team environment, sometimes with remote team members, engaging in test and support of flight and non-flight spacecraft electronics. The Test Technician will be expected to execute tests using aerospace standard approaches.

Position Type: Full Time

Pay Range: $28.85-$48.30 per hour

Location: Boulder or Lafayette, CO

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Work in a fast-paced team environment
  2. Assist test engineers with integration and test of spacecraft systems/electronics and/or ground support equipment
  3. Execute test procedures
  4. May include personnel management responsibilities
  5. Use test and measurement equipment to test and troubleshoot hardware
  6. Document non-conformances and/or test errors as they occur during execution of tests
  7. Maintain required test engineering logs and records
  8. Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule
  9. Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company
  10. Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment
  11. Other responsibilities as assigned
  12. May include test support on nights or weekends

Required Qualifications:

  1. Experience performing board and/or subsystem level handling and testing of electronics and hardware
  2. Experience with executing manual and/or automated test procedures
  3. Ability to work independently with some direction and to be a self-starter
  4. Experience with spacecraft level system and/or electronics integration and test
  5. Great initiative with troubleshooting and problem-solving
  6. Confidence in a lab environment
  7. Experience with test instrumentation/test rack design
  8. 7-12 years of experience in Aerospace or Electronics Test or related field
  9. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education

Desired Experience:

  • Experience testing radio frequency (RF) hardware and systems
  • Experience reading and executing automated scripts
  • Experience interfacing with multiple online systems and GUIs
  • Environmental test experience including operation and monitoring thermal chambers

Working Conditions:

This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.
