UPS Field Service Technician – Denver, CO

This job opportunity is with a market leader in Critical Power Solutions and Services in the nation. The company provides data center power solutions tailored to the requirements of mission-critical facilities, including Third Party Purchases, Installs, Corrective and Preventive Maintenance of Mission Critical Power Equipment such as Switchgear, Batteries, UPS, and Generator Maintenance & Repair Services, Turnkey Electrical Solutions, DC Plant Services, and Battery Services. They ensure reliability and uptime for mission-critical facilities for many of the world's largest organizations and government facilities, including Enterprise Data Centers, Colocation Providers, and Hyperscale Companies.

A fully competent UPS Field Technician applies extensive and diverse knowledge of UPS start-up, testing, and operations. The technician is responsible for commissioning, maintaining, and providing emergency support on power electronics at customer sites within their regional coverage area.

Responsibilities:
  1. Perform commissioning design reviews, prepare testing procedures and reports, and oversee on-site testing.
  2. Engage in preventive maintenance, emergency response, equipment start-up, and field modifications. Occasionally train at the company's headquarters on testing equipment or rebuilding older systems.
  3. Discuss maintenance or operational problems with technical support.
  4. Participate in developing Methods of Procedures (MOPs).
  5. Consult with supervisors on unusual problems and developments.
  6. This position is home-based.
Qualifications:
  • Preferably 3-5+ years of experience, with the ability to troubleshoot down to component level on equipment such as UPS, batteries, PDU's, STS, etc.
  • Proficient in using hand tools and test equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong customer relations skills.
  • Ability to provide high-quality customer service.
  • Ability to complete Field Service Reports promptly.
  • Knowledge of equipment manufacturer's specifications.
  • Ability to work independently and resourcefully with good initiative.
  • Physical ability to perform repeated bending and lifting of up to 100 lbs during procedures.
  • Proactive in providing recommendations to clients.
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed and be on call.
  • Knowledge of general computer hardware and software applications.
  • Previous 3rd Party UPS experience is a plus.
  • UPS OEM factory training or field experience with brands like Emerson, Liebert, Vertiv, APC, MGE, Schneider, Eaton, Powerware, or PDI is required.
  • Technical degree from institutions like DeVry or Lincoln Tech is a plus.
  • Military experience in electrical/mechanical roles is highly advantageous.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Regional travel is typical, with potential for national travel in emergencies.
