Job summary

Lubrizol is seeking a seasoned formulation scientist to lead development and application research for Beauty and Home Care across North America. You will act as the primary technical contact for customer projects, delivering differentiated solutions and supporting product launches.

You will collaborate with global teams, translate experimental results into practical customer outcomes, and train customers, distributors, and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in Beauty and Home Care product formulation development, technical service, and performance testing.
• Experience supporting customer products and commercializing new technologies in a B2B environment.
• Ability to travel up to 20% for customer engagement and commercialization.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Lead formulation development and application research initiatives supporting Beauty and Home Care growth across North America.
• Provide technical expertise to sales and marketing through customer-focused product development, testing, and application support.
• Serve as the primary formulation scientist and technical contact for customer projects, ensuring successful execution and commercialization.
• Identify unmet customer needs, analyze competitors, and apply Lubrizol technologies to develop differentiated solutions.
• Partner with global and regional technical teams to create prototype formulations for product launches and market strategies.
• Build and maintain relationships with customer technical teams, providing troubleshooting support and identifying new business opportunities.
• Deliver technical training, presentations, and educational sessions to customers, distributors, and internal stakeholders.
• Participate in customer meetings and collaborative project discussions to support market growth and strategic initiatives.
• Manage multiple development projects with clear progress and timelines.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and follow safe laboratory practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline from an accredited institution.
• 10+ years of experience in Beauty and Home Care product formulation development, technical service, and performance testing.
• Demonstrated experience supporting customer products and commercializing new technologies in a business-to-business environment.
• Ability to travel up to 20% to support customer engagement and product commercialization activities.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to translate experimental results into practical customer solutions.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver technical presentations to diverse audiences.
• Highly self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
• Proven ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and projects in both individual and team settings.
• Strong documentation, laboratory recordkeeping, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
