Job summary

Lubrizol Corporation is seeking a Senior Technical Service Scientist – Beauty & Home Care (North America) to lead formulation development and application research across North America, partnering with customers to deliver high‑performance solutions.

You will support sales/marketing with technical input, serve as the key technical contact for projects, and collaborate with global teams to drive launches. Location includes Brecksville, OH with travel up to 20%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
• 10+ years in Beauty and Home Care product formulation development, technical service, and performance testing.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% for customer engagement and commercialization activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead formulation development and application research initiatives to support Beauty and Home Care growth in North America.
• Provide technical expertise to sales/marketing through product development, testing, and application support.
• Serve as the primary formulation scientist and technical contact for customer projects, ensuring successful execution and commercialization.
• Identify unmet customer needs, analyze competitors, and apply Lubrizol tech to develop differentiated solutions.
• Collaborate with global/regional teams to create prototype formulations for launches and market strategies.
• Build relationships with customer technical teams, provide troubleshooting, and identify new business opportunities.
• Deliver technical training, presentations, and educational sessions to customers/distributors/internal stakeholders.
• Participate in meetings to support market growth and strategic initiatives.
• Manage multiple projects with clear progress, timelines, and results.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with global and regional technical teams to create prototype formulations that support product launches and market strategies.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customer technical teams, providing troubleshooting support and identifying new business opportunities.
• Deliver technical training, presentations, and educational sessions to customers, distributors, and internal stakeholders.
• Participate in customer meetings and collaborative project discussions to support market growth and strategic initiatives.
• Manage multiple development projects simultaneously while maintaining clear communication on progress, timelines, and results.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and follow all safe laboratory practices and procedures.
• Travel up to 20% domestically to support customer visits, product development activities, and commercialization efforts.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline from an accredited institution.
• 10+ years of experience in Beauty and Home Care product formulation development, technical service, and performance testing.
• Demonstrated experience supporting customer products and commercializing new technologies in a business‑to‑business environment.
• Ability to travel up to 20% to support customer engagement and product commercialization activities.
• Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills with the ability to translate experimental results into practical customer solutions.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver technical presentations to diverse audiences.
• Highly self‑motivated, results‑oriented, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
• Proven ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and projects in both individual and team settings.
• Strong documentation, laboratory recordkeeping, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
