Job summary

The Lubrizol Corporation in Ohio is seeking a Lab Analyst for a full-time, on-site night-shift role. You will perform QC laboratory activities, test materials, and document results while supporting instrument qualification and daily lab operations.

The ideal candidate holds a BS in Chemistry or a closely related field, possesses strong analytical and communication skills, and is comfortable working a rotating night schedule with potential overtime.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry or closely related field.
• Experience with biology, chemistry, biochemistry testing techniques.
• Detail-oriented and capable of precise analytical work.
• Strong PC skills including Microsoft Office.
• Able to work any shift, including weekends and overtime as needed.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
• Excellent communication and data interpretation skills.
• Able to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for 12 hours.

Responsibilities

• Perform QC lab activities and adhere to SWP and SOPs.
• Test materials: raw, in-process, finished samples with precision.
• Prepare solutions and document data in notebooks, SAP, LIMS.
• Review and approve lab results; report timely to operations.
• Assist in instrument qualifications, validations, and PMs.
• Support training of new staff in basic laboratory skills.
• Troubleshoot and investigate OOS results.

Night Shift - 6pm-6am (Rotating - 3 nights one week, 4 nights the next.)

How You’ll Make An Impact

As a Lab Analyst you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, driving specialty chemical solutions forward. You'll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing, and enhance modern life. Performs all QC Lab activities, including but not limited to all Standard Work Process (SWP), Management System, and analytical responsibilities. Reports to the QC Leader.

In This Role, You Will

• Provide internal and external customers with the highest level of customer service in responsiveness while performing QC activities.
• Interface with all corporate, commercial, supply chain, customer experience, and lab / operations personnel.
• Communicate between departments when reporting results and execute SWP / SOP in an exemplary manner.
• Perform all test methods without supervision within precision and accuracy standards.
• Prepare all solutions needed for testing.
• Perform testing on raw material, in-process, finished good, and miscellaneous samples.
• Document all data in corresponding laboratory notebook, SAP, LIMS as business needs dictate.
• Dispose of all chemicals safely.
• Perform required testing pertaining to customer complaints, discrepancies, & laboratory investigations.
• Report results to operations, in a timely manner.
• Review and approve laboratory results as needed.
• Assist in the performance of qualifications and validations of instruments, test methods, and basic PMs.
• Troubleshoot/self-evaluate OOS results.
• Assist in writing SWP, SOPs, methods, protocols, and reports.
• Perform daily laboratory maintenance.
• Oversee the training of new employee’s basic laboratory skills and functions.
• Perform simple problem solving and participate in improving daily work.

Required Qualifications That Enable Your Success

• BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry or closely related field.
• Experience in biology, chemistry, biochemistry testing techniques.
• Must be extremely detail-oriented.
• Possess strong PC skills including Microsoft Office.
• Flexibility to work any shift, including weekends.
• Willingness to work overtime, with or without advance notice.
• Ability to work as an integral part of a team.
• Possess strong analytical problem solving and mathematical skills.
• Must have excellent communication skills.
• Excellent reading skills with ability to comprehend analytical procedures and technical instructions
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds on occasion.
• Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time throughout the 12hr. shift.

Preferred Qualifications That Drive You Forward

• Experience with lab instrumentation including GC, HPLC, FT-IR, UV-vis, Brookfield viscometers, and auto titrators.
• Experience or training in microbiological techniques.
