About The Role
We are seeking a hands-on Field Service Technician to provide onsite technical support, troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, and repair of laptop and desktop computer systems. This role is ideal for someone with practical experience in computer hardware break-fix, component replacement, system configuration, and basic software troubleshooting.
The technician will travel to assigned locations, independently manage service activities, resolve technical issues, document completed work, and provide professional customer support.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform onsite troubleshooting, repair, installation, and maintenance of laptop and desktop computer systems
- Diagnose and resolve hardware issues involving computer components and peripherals
- Perform break-fix repairs, component replacements, upgrades, and system configurations
- Install, configure, and test computer hardware and related equipment
- Troubleshoot basic Windows and software-related issues
- Build, configure, and test desktop computer systems as required
- Use appropriate diagnostic tools and technical procedures to identify and resolve equipment issues
- Complete scheduled onsite service calls and installations within established timelines
- Maintain accurate documentation of service activities, repairs, parts used, and equipment status
- Communicate technical findings and service updates clearly with customers and internal teams
- Escalate complex technical issues when additional assistance is required
- Follow established safety, security, equipment-handling, and service procedures
- Provide professional customer service while working at assigned locations
- Manage assigned service activities independently and prioritize multiple service requests as needed
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ year of hands-on experience with laptop and desktop computer break-fix
- Experience troubleshooting and replacing computer hardware components
- General knowledge of laptop and desktop hardware and software
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft applications
- Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical problems
- Ability to use computer repair and diagnostic tools
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a field-based environment
- Ability to travel to assigned service locations
- Must have a reliable personal vehicle and valid automobile insurance for required business travel
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building or assembling desktop computers
- CompTIA A+ or other relevant technical certification
- Technical training or Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Technology, Electronics, or a related field
- Previous field service, desktop support, or onsite technical support experience
- Experience replacing components such as motherboards, LCD/display assemblies, hard drives/SSDs, memory, batteries, keyboards, and other computer hardware
