What you'll do?
SimpliSafe is seeking an Indirect Tax Senior Analyst to join the Finance team as anintegral part of the tax function. The Indirect Tax Senior Analyst will be responsible fordaily indirect tax activities, tax compliance filings, and will assist with sales and use taxaudits. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Primary responsibilities include:
● Maintain the Company’s indirect tax calendar to ensure accurate and timelycompliance
● Review sales and use tax returns in Avalara, ensuring any adjustments, ifapplicable, are performed accurately and supporting records are maintained
● Reconcile sales and use tax and other non-income tax accounts on a monthly basis
● Prepare indirect tax returns including franchise and other non-income-based tax filings, including personal property tax
● Ensure indirect tax payments are made timely with coordination from Accountingteams (i.e. Accounts Payable and General Ledger teams)
● Maintain repository of customer sales tax exemption certificates and ensurecustomers with valid certificates are appropriately exempted in the Company’sfinancial systems
● Collaborate with cross-functional teams on indirect tax issues
● Research, track, and respond timely and accurately to any indirect tax notices orinquiries received from tax authorities
● Act as point of contact for all indirect tax audits
● Monitor and analyze potential impact of expected changes in sales and use taxlegislation
● Partner with Business Systems team to monitor Avalara tax system and logsupport tickets when support from the vendor is needed
● Maintain up-to-date internal indirect tax files containing the Company’s tax policydocuments and supporting documentation related to indirect taxes
● Assist with ad hoc and special tax projects as needed
What You’ll Bring
● 4-6 years of experience with multi-state indirect tax compliance required
● Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Accounting, Tax, or related field
● Experience with Avalara tax software is preferred
● Outstanding organization skills with attention to detail
● Ability to prioritize tasks and work on multiple indirect tax assignmentsconcurrently
● Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
● Ability to work independently and as a member of a team with little supervision
● Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite
