Job summary

Shield Consulting Solutions seeks a highly experienced System Administrator to support a large-scale Linux environment. You will install COTS/GOTS/FOSS software, run day-to-day operations, monitor systems, and resolve issues across compute, network, memory, and storage.

A TS/SCI with polygraph clearance is required. Responsibilities include preserving system security integrity, configuring network components, and implementing OS enhancements to boost reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• Security+ certification is required.
• 15 years of experience as a System Administrator.
• Degree may be substituted with 5 additional years of relevant experience.

Job Description

• The System Administrator shall be responsible for providing support for a large-scale Linux system including installation of COTS/GOTS/FOSS software, day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for all the compute, network, memory, and storage system components.
• In addition, the System Administrator shall maintain the system security integrity and configure network components, along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.

Required Experience

• Experience using the Linux CLI
• Experience developing scripts using Bash/Python
• Experience in performing System Administration including installation, configuration, and support of COTS/GOTS/FOSS software in a large-scale Linux cluster environment
• General technical knowledge regarding compute, network, memory, and storage system components
• Experience with Red Hat Satellite systems management solution
• Familiarity using Splunk for ingesting, indexing, searching, monitoring, and analyzing big data
• Experience with the sustainment and support of large Linux clusters including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution
• Experience configuring and sustaining VMware ESXi/Virtualization environments
• Experience with IaC (Infrastructure as Code) principles and automation tools such as SaltStack and Ansible
• Experience with corporate STE/STN security compliance policies and procedures
• Experience using system monitoring tools such as HPE One View and Nagios
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker

Desired Experience

• Experience with container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes
• Experience with distributed files systems such as Weka, CEPH, GPFS, and HDFS
• Experience with the Atlassian Suite of Tools such as Jira and Confluence

Salary: $235,000 - $245,000 annually
