Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team. You will handle instruments, supplies and equipment for general to moderately complex procedures, and assist with patient preparation and care under the supervision of the registered nurse and surgical team.

The role requires a Surgical Technology program graduate or equivalent, with knowledge of OR procedures and the ability to respond to emergent situations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program.
• Specific knowledge of surgical procedures within the operating room, in addition to knowledge of surgical procedures, practices and techniques in providing patient care and assisting surgeons in the O.R.

Responsibilities

• Handle surgical instruments, supplies and equipment during general to moderately complex procedures.
• Provide service support related to patient preparation, transport, and assisting the surgical care team with patient care duties.

Job Description

General Summary

Under direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and Surgical Team members, responsible for the handling of surgical instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during general to moderately complex surgical procedures. Ensures understanding of the assigned surgical procedures being performed and anticipates the needs of the assigned surgeon and surgical team members. Also provides service support related to patient preparation, patient transport, and assisting surgical care team with specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.


• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program.


• Specific knowledge of surgical procedures within the operating room (OR), in addition to knowledge of surgical procedures, practices and techniques in providing patient care and assisting surgeons in the O.R.

Certifications/Licensures Required

• Current BLS certification required or become BLS certified within one month of start date.


• Surgical Technologist certification required or 3-5 years of experience supporting complex high acuity surgical volume, as defined above, in lieu of a certification.

Schedule

6:30am - 5:00pm

40 hours per week, weekend rotation
