Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Detroit area is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team. You will handle instruments and supplies, prepare patients, and assist surgeons through general to moderately complex procedures with a focus on safety and efficiency.

The role involves responding to emergent situations, working under RN supervision, and contributing to high-quality patient care in a busy surgical setting. Position is part-time, with a day shift.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program or six (6) months specialized patient care training in the armed forces required.
• Specific knowledge of surgical procedures within the operating room (OR) and assisting surgeons in the OR.
• Current BLS certification required or become BLS certified within one month of start date.
• Surgical Technologist certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Handle surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment during general to moderately complex procedures.
• Assist with patient preparation, transport, and support the surgical care team to ensure safety and comfort.
• Respond to emergent situations according to established procedures.

Job Description

• Schedule: 20 hours per week, Day shift, 6:00am - 2:30pm
• Sign on bonus: Eligible
• Department: Surgery

Under direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and Surgical Team members, responsible for the handling of surgical instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during general to moderately complex surgical procedures. Ensures understanding of the assigned surgical procedures being performed and anticipates the needs of the assigned surgeon and surgical team members. Also provides service support related to patient preparation, patient transport, and assisting surgical care team with specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures.
