Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support operating room procedures. Under supervision, you will handle instruments, supplies, and equipment for general to moderately complex surgeries and assist with patient preparation and transport.

Responsibilities include assisting the surgical team with patient care duties to ensure safety and comfort, and responding to emergent situations per established procedures. Schedule: 6:30am–5:00pm; 40 hours/week with weekend rotation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduation from a Surgical Technology program required.
• Knowledge of surgical procedures and assisting surgeons in the OR.

Job Description
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and Surgical Team members, responsible for the handling of surgical instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during general to moderately complex surgical procedures. Ensures understanding of the assigned surgical procedures being performed and anticipates the needs of the assigned surgeon and surgical team members. Also provides service support related to patient preparation, patient transport, and assisting surgical care team with specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program.
• Specific knowledge of surgical procedures within the operating room (OR), in addition to knowledge of surgical procedures, practices and techniques in providing patient care and assisting surgeons in the O.R.
  

Certifications/Licensures Required

• Current BLS certification required or become BLS certified within one month of start date.
• Surgical Technologist certification required or 3-5 years of experience supporting complex high acuity surgical volume, as defined above, in lieu of a certification.
