Henry Ford Health is seeking a part-time Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team in Michigan. Responsibilities include handling surgical instruments and equipment, preparing patients, and assisting surgeons during procedures, with a focus on safety and patient comfort.

The role requires strong knowledge of OR procedures and teamwork. Schedule is Saturday and Sunday from 7:00am to 7:30pm, totaling 24 hours per week, with a sign-on bonus of $3,500.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program or six months specialized patient care training in the armed forces.
• Knowledge of surgical procedures, practices and techniques in providing patient care and assisting surgeons in the OR.

Responsibilities

• Handle surgical instruments, supplies and equipment during general to moderately complex procedures.
• Understand assigned procedures and anticipate surgeon and team needs.
• Support patient preparation, transport, and assist surgical care team with patient care duties for safety and comfort.
• Respond to emergent situations according to established procedures.

Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY

Under direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and Surgical Team members, responsible for the handling of surgical instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during general to moderately complex surgical procedures. Ensures understanding of the assigned surgical procedures being performed and anticipates the needs of the assigned surgeon and surgical team members. Also provides service support related to patient preparation, patient transport, and assisting surgical care team with specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program or six (6) months specialized patient care training in the armed forces required.
• Specific knowledge of surgical procedures within the operating room (OR), in addition to knowledge of surgical procedures, practices and techniques in providing patient care and assisting surgeons in the O.R.

Certifications/Licensures Required

• Current BLS certification required or become BLS certified within one month of start date.
• Surgical Technologist certification preferred but not required.

Saturday & Sunday - 7:00am - 7:30pm
