Job summary

Vaco Recruiter Services is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join its Irvine, CA accounting team in a contract-to-hire role with strong AR and month-end close responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, expertise in accounts receivable, cash application, and journal entries, and will work independently on high-volume processes while supporting leadership on special projects.

Qualifications

• Strong accounts receivable and cash application experience required.
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks required.
• ERP system experience preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex accounts receivable functions, including cash application, deposit reconciliations, aging analysis, and customer account research.
• Process and reconcile high-volume customer remittances across multiple invoices and orders.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, and month-end close support schedules.
• Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Maintain fixed asset records and related accounting schedules.
• Assist with financial reporting and general ledger maintenance.
• Support audit requests and organize supporting documentation.
• Monitor outstanding receivables and help drive collection and reconciliation efforts.
• Provide guidance and support to junior accounting team members.
• Partner with leadership on special projects and process improvement initiatives.
