Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience managing month-end close and preparing financial statements.
  • Strong external audit experience, including audit preparation and auditor collaboration.
  • Manufacturing, distribution, or inventory-based accounting experience required.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP, cost accounting principles, and inventory valuation.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or other ERP systems is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations, including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Coordinate and assist with external audit activities, including the preparation of schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Perform cost accounting and inventory analysis, partnering closely with operations to ensure accurate product costing.
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP and provide meaningful variance analysis to management.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting procedures, and compliance initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and other departments on business initiatives and process improvements.
  • Support ERP system enhancements, automation efforts, and financial reporting improvements.
  • Assist with special projects and provide accounting support across multiple business units as needed.

Our client, a rapidly growing and well-established organization in the food distribution and manufacturing industry, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join its accounting team. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in financial reporting, month-end close, audit support, cost analysis, and process improvement initiatives within a fast-paced environment.
