Job summary

Neighborly, a hub of home and business service brands, seeks a Senior Staff Accountant to lead monthly close, GAAP analyses, and reporting. You will prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, analyze variances, and support contract reviews and footnote work for acquisitions.

A strong background in ERP systems is required. Hybrid work in Irving, TX with collaboration across operations and finance teams to deliver accurate statements, footnotes, and management commentary.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years related industry experience
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and ability to research, analyze, interpret, and apply technical accounting guidance
• Intermediate-level knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
• Experience with ERP/financial systems
• CPA license is not required but is a plus

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, variance analysis & commentary, and internal financial statements
• Analyze financial information, detailing income, expenses, assets, and liabilities, and prepare balance sheet, P&L, cash flow statements, and other reports
• Communicate with operations management to ensure transactions are recorded appropriately and explain fluctuations and root causes
• Review contracts for accurate and timely recording; assist integration of acquisitions with footnote schedules
• Assist in preparing annual audited financial statements and footnotes; develop supporting documentation
• Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements across the organization for consistency and best practices
• Ability to write reports, analysis summaries, business correspondence, and procedural documents
• Use Microsoft Office, Dynamics, Great Plains, Dynamics 365, SAP Concur, and Nortridge Loan Management Software

As a Senior Staff Accountant at Neighborly, a typical day for you will include:

• Perform monthly closing activities, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, accrual schedules, variance analysis & commentary, and internal financial statements, and monthly reporting schedules. Ensures compliance with GAAP and Company policies and proceduresAnalyze financial information, detailing income, expenses, assets, and liabilities, and prepares a balance sheet, profit and loss statement, statement of cash flows, and other reportsCommunicate with operations management to ensure transactions are recorded appropriately. Prepare and effectively communicate financial statement fluctuations, identifying root causes for variances and resolution of issuesReview contracts to ensure they are recorded accurately and timelyLead integration of acquisitions including preparing footnote schedules for annual financial statementsAssist in the preparation of annual audited financial statements and footnotes, including preparation, review, and tie-out of supporting documentationIdentifies, recommends, and implements process improvements throughout the organization to help promote consistency and departmental best practicesAbility to write reports, analysis summaries, business correspondence, and procedural documents is criticalUse software such as Microsoft Suites (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams), Dynamics, Great Plains, Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP Concur, and Northridge Loan Management Software.

Experience:
