Overview
The Senior Specialist, Emerging Technologies, will oversee and manage the immersive learning lab, focusing on advanced technologies such as virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR), interactive displays, tablets, interactive whiteboards, and collaboration tools. This role involves developing innovative training programs, ensuring effective use of these technologies for hands-on simulations, collaborating with departments, engaging with external vendors, and coordinating projects to enhance employee skills and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Immersive Learning Lab: Oversee daily operations, ensuring effective use of VR/AR, displays, tablets, whiteboards, and collaboration tools for training.
- Develop Training Programs: Design and implement programs utilizing these technologies to simulate high-risk scenarios for employee practice and competence building.
- Collaborate with Departments: Work with IT, HR, and operational units to integrate training solutions into existing frameworks aligned with organizational goals.
- Interact with External Vendors: Source and implement the latest VR/AR and related technologies, maintaining relationships with vendors.
- Project Coordination: Manage projects related to immersive learning technology implementation and enhancements.
- Evaluate and Improve: Assess training effectiveness, gather feedback, and make adjustments to improve outcomes.
- Stay Current with Technology: Keep updated on VR/AR developments and incorporate new advancements into training programs.
- Provide Expert Guidance: Act as a subject matter expert, offering guidance and support to teams and departments.
- Perform other related tasks as required.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Education, or related field; or Associate's degree with 4 years relevant experience. Advanced certifications and 3+ years relevant work experience are preferred.
Relevant Skills and Experience- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and presentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for addressing training issues.
- Organizational, administrative, and decision-making skills with attention to detail.
- Proven experience managing VR/AR projects, especially in training or educational settings.
- Project management skills to oversee multiple initiatives successfully.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, PowerApps, and Power Automate is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
- Driver's License required.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 25-40 pounds, sit/stand for extended periods, and perform manual tasks.
- Work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Additional Physical Demands
- Respond to emergencies and travel within service territory as needed.
