Job Description:
The Field Service Specialist is a remote position reporting to the Service Manager, providing onsite and remote technical/engineering assistance, urgent repairs, corrective maintenance, and material handling for RENK Industrial and Marine Gears across the US and North America.
Essential Functions:
- Diagnose, assess, and repair equipment faults.
- Perform scheduled maintenance services.
- Execute mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control tasks, including repair, maintenance, commissioning, assembly, installation checks, alignment, tooth contact setting, electrical signal testing, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Document service activities in the Customer Relations Management (CRM) system.
- Create and update service reports as necessary.
- Maintain tool inventory and ensure equipment calibration.
- Participate in customer technical review meetings as needed.
- Visit vendor sites for technical and commercial clarifications upon request.
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or Bachelor's Degree with 6+ years of relevant experience; relevant education and experience may be substituted.
- At least 2 years of experience with assembly, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, or repair of gear systems or similar equipment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Willingness to travel within the continental US.
- Ability to move freely within the service environment without accommodations.
- Ability to obtain security clearance.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Ability to multitask, think quickly, and work independently.
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and professionalism skills.
- Self-motivated with good interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
- Excellent prioritization skills to ensure timely task completion.
- High level of honesty, reliability, tactfulness, and confidentiality.
- Basic mechanical knowledge; understanding of hydraulics, transmission, gear drive parts, and performance parameters.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with high torque hydraulic tools, torque wrenches, rigging, and cranes.
- Experience with measurement tools like micrometers, line bore gauges, laser alignment, and vibration measurement devices.
- Electrical measurement and troubleshooting skills.
- Manufacturing experience, especially in assembly and testing of large gear drive systems.
