This position serves as the primary Health and Safety resource, providing technical expertise and managing local safety issues 24/7/365. Responsibilities include ensuring health and safety compliance, developing procedures, raising safety awareness, and sharing information. The role involves establishing metrics, monitoring performance, facilitating culture change initiatives, and performing incident analyses and root cause investigations related to personal injuries and motor vehicle accidents. Success depends on communication and building strong relationships with Operations regions/divisions. Key activities include maintaining safety programs, implementing safety plans, and providing technical support on Health and Safety issues.
Note: The position may require extended hours during storms or energy emergencies.
B.S./B.A. in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, or related field plus 4-7 years' experience in utility operations, EH&S, or related field; or 6-9 years of utility operations experience without a degree. Must demonstrate attention to detail, urgency, self-motivation, and results-driven action.
Knowledge of state and federal safety laws, industrial hygiene principles, electric and gas distribution operations, and EH&S regulations and scientific principles.
