Position Information
Position Overview
The Sr. Regulatory and Compliance Specialist (RCS) is both a leader and an expert within the content development team on healthcare regulations, accreditation requirements, and standards of care. The Sr. RCS will be a compliance, regulatory, and clinical guideline resource to program and product managers, program editors, development managers, and contracted subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure courses include up-to-date information and ultimately "improve the quality of healthcare by developing the people that deliver care.”
This person will be responsible for researching, monitoring and interpreting federal and state regulation changes and will help build and maintain a database which compiles this information. The Sr. RCS will also be responsible for collaborating with the editorial managers to determine how and when courseware and other resources should be updated to reflect the changes.
The successful candidate for this position will have experience in compliance as well as CMS Conditions of Participation (CoPs), OSHA, JC National Patient Safety Goals (NPSGs), regulatory review, interpretation, and application, research experience and/or experience with national accrediting bodies. They will have the ability to plan and execute their own activities with minimal supervision, appropriate prioritization, and focus.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for adhering to all HealthStream security policies, procedures, and assigned training.
Work with legal/compliance/regulatory subject matter experts (SMEs) to capture and interpret regulatory information in a database
Regularly and systematically review the regulatory/compliance database, appropriate websites, and relevant publications for changes in regulations, Inform) SMEs, vendors, members of the content development team, and other product or business-related stakeholders of new and changed regulations.
Work with program editors to identify content gaps related to regulations, requirements, and standards of care.
Recommend changes or additions to current content as needed based on regulation or guideline changes.
Assist in the identification of state-level healthcare professional licensure and re-licensure requirements and develop outlines for courseware to meet these requirements.
Requirements
Degree in Nursing, advanced degree and/or certifications preferred
Clinical or healthcare-related experience required
8+ years of experience in a clinical management position
Working knowledge of CMS Conditions of Participation, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards
Proven ability to provide relevant thought leadership in the areas of knowledge and competency
Demonstrated experience with MS Office applications, especially Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams, Powerpoint, and Sharepoint
Qualifications
Excellent presentation and written communication skills
Superior project/program management and organization skills
Proven ability to work independently, exhibiting a high level of personal ownership and accountability
Ability to communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders to express goals, strategies, and concepts
Ability to apply adult learning principles to regulatory and compliance content
