Job description

The Waymo Driver powers Waymo One, a fully autonomous ride-hailing service, and can be applied to various vehicle platforms and use cases. Role Overview

As part of Waymo's Legal team, you will work on legal issues surrounding our autonomous driving technology and support our business from technology development to commercial deployment. You will collaborate with public policy, safety, security, and privacy teams to shape transportation policy, advise on regulatory changes, and ensure compliance with global regulations. You will also help develop and protect our intellectual property and manage legal transactions and high-profile legal matters.

You will work remotely (preferably in the Bay Area) and report to our Regulatory Compliance team.

Responsibilities
  1. Partner with vendors to ensure compliant autonomous vehicle operations, supporting onboarding and offboarding of employees.
  2. Develop and implement KPIs and metrics to evaluate vendor performance.
  3. Prepare and submit external data reports related to collision incidents to regulators, balancing independent and team responsibilities.
  4. Manage documentation according to Waymo's policies.
  5. Support ad hoc regulatory data requests.
  6. Manage a temporary worker supporting these tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. At least 4 years of experience in regulatory compliance, legal support, or related collaboration, especially in safety-focused environments.
  2. Experience managing or working with extended workforce partners to ensure compliance.
  3. High accuracy in communication.
  4. Ability to analyze processes for gaps and improvements.
  5. Effective collaboration and problem-solving skills.
  6. Ability to automate repetitive tasks and improve workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Technical skills with proprietary software.
  2. High emotional intelligence and teamwork orientation.
  3. Experience in regulatory reporting.
  4. Ability to handle manual tasks and lead process improvements.
  5. Knowledge of driver compliance programs, including motor vehicle records, background checks, and testing programs.
