Senior Quality Engineer - Tucson, AZ

Location: Tucson, AZ, United States. Position: Onsite, requires U.S. citizenship and a valid DoD Secret clearance (interim clearance required before start). ATF clearance also required.

What You Will Do

• Verify product and process compliance with contractual, technical, industry, AS9100 QMS requirements and internal policies.
• Generate and publish Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) metrics on a regular basis.
• Facilitate and lead cross‑functional teams in failure analysis, Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations, and Corrective Action Boards (CAB).
• Identify, physically control, and dispose of non‑conforming material; facilitate Material Review Board (MRB) when required.
• Support development and maintenance of work instructions, test instructions, and inspection instructions; audit processes and ensure configuration management.
• Interface with Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) and maintain daily status meetings with factory support, management, and stakeholders to manage issues.
• Conduct weekly meetings to reduce cost of poor quality and expedite red rack dispositions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in quality, operations, or engineering for a Senior Quality Engineer role.
• Experience supporting design and/or manufacturing processes; manufacturing process experience in assembly, inspection, or testing.
• Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. security clearance (Secret) and ATF clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
• Prefer existing DoD Top Secret clearance.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, work instructions, BOMs, consumable material control, process disciplines, and tool control.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of negotiating, conducting difficult conversations, and collaborating with factory management, hourly employees, and internal stakeholders.
• Experience with ISO 9001/AS9100 quality systems, AS9102 first‑article inspection requirements, AS9145 APQP, and PPAP.
• Experience leading cross‑functional teams in audits, product/process improvements, and failure‑mode analyses with regression analysis.
• Data‑analytics skills and ability to develop actionable metrics.
• Strong written and verbal communication; networking skills.
• Certification: Six Sigma or ASQ Level 5; Mission Assurance Certification (Internal candidate preference).
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio). A Master’s degree is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary range: 86,800 - 165,200 USD annually (dependent on experience).
