Job summary

RTX is seeking an experienced Factory Quality Engineer to join the Effectors Operations Quality team in Tucson, AZ. The role is onsite on the 2nd shift with an 8% shift differential and a sign-on bonus for eligible candidates.

You will drive quality requirements, support continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with AS9100/ISO 9001 in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. A DoD Secret clearance eligibility is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM with two years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in Quality, Operations, or Engineering.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing instructions.
  • Experience with AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Ability to obtain ATF clearance prior to start.
  • Ability to obtain interim U.S. government security clearance; US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Verify product and process compliance with QMS requirements and internal policies.
  • Develop relationships with touch labor, factory leadership, program leadership, and DCMA.
  • Regular data analysis; creation of COPQ metrics.
  • Lead RCCA investigations and CABs; track issues to closure.
  • Ensure disposition of non-conforming material and MRB coordination.
  • Support work instruction development and audits for configuration management.
  • Develop and maintain inspection instructions and FAIs per AS9102.
  • Interface with DCMA and stakeholders to manage issues.
  • Lead weekly meetings to reduce cost of poor quality and red rack dispositions.

Raytheon is looking for an experienced Factory Quality Engineer to join the Effectors Operations Quality team in Tucson, AZ, supporting a face paced, multi value stream factory. The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter capable of driving quality requirements, manufacturing objectives, continuous improvement, and achieving results in a matrixed environment.

You will support a manufacturing effort that requires the ability to operate in a challenging and dynamic environment where successful quality execution is a key contributor to overall success.

The position is onsite in Tucson, AZ and on the 2nd shift. An 8% shift differential is offered on top of base salary. Sign-on bonus available, provided final candidate meets eligibility requirements. We work a 9/80 schedule (every other Friday off).

What You Will Do

  • Verify product and process compliance with respect to contractual, technical, industry, AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and internal policies
  • Develop strong working relationships with the touch labor, factory leadership, program leadership, and DCMA
  • Regular data analysis; development and usage of actionable metrics. Generation and publication of Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) metrics.
  • Facilitate and lead cross-functional team in failure analysis, Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations, including identifying non-conformances, providing solutions, tracking issues to closure and leading Corrective Action Boards (CAB)
  • Ensure identification, physical control, and disposition of non-conforming material and facilitate Material Review Board (MRB) when necessary
  • Support work instruction development and maintenance activities by reviewing work instructions, test instructions, auditing processes, and assuring configuration management
  • Development and maintenance of inspection instructions, ensuring inspection instructions meet the technical data package requirements and meet production needs
  • Development and release of First Article Inspections (FAIs) in accordance with AS9102
  • Regularly interface with Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) and internal stakeholders to manage issues
  • Conduct weekly meetings to help reduce cost of poor quality and facilitate timely red rack dispositions

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with two years of relevant experience
  • Relevant experience is work in Quality, Operations, Engineering or related technical discipline
  • Experience with interpreting engineering drawings, work instructions, and/or manufacturing process experience in one of the following areas (assembly, inspection, and/or test)
  • Experience with AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality management systems
  • The ability to obtain and maintain an ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) clearance prior to the start date.
  • Ability to obtain INTERIM U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Competency and experience in a relevant technical discipline with understanding of engineering principles and design analysis techniques
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams in auditing process and product/process improvements in the factory or at suppliers
  • Experience in Product/Process Failure Modes & Affects Analysis, Regression Analysis
  • Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection Requirements
  • Experience with Bill of Materials (BOMs) and consumable materials control
  • Experience with AS9145 - Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  • High computer proficiency, including skills working with Microsoft Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
  • ASQ Certifications
