Job summary

Raytheon’s Quality and Mission Assurance team in Tucson, AZ is seeking an experienced Factory Quality Engineer to join the Effector Operations Quality team. The role focuses on driving quality requirements, manufacturing objectives and continuous improvement in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in STEM and 5 years of relevant experience, AS9102 and AS9100/ISO 9001 proficiency, and the ability to obtain a U.S. government clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM and 5 years of experience in Quality, Operations, Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, work instructions, BOMs, or consumable materials control.
  • Manufacturing process experience in assembly, inspection, or test.
  • Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection Requirements.
  • Experience with AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an ATF clearance prior to start date.
  • Ability to obtain U.S. government issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Verify product and process compliance with contractual, technical, industry, AS9100 QMS requirements and internal policies.
  • Develop relationships with touch labor, factory leadership, program leadership, and DCMA.
  • Analyze data and generate COPQ metrics; publish metrics.
  • Lead RCCA investigations and coordinate Corrective Actions Boards.
  • Ensure disposition of non-conforming material and MRB involvement.
  • Support work instruction development, audits, and configuration management.
  • Develop and release First Article Inspections per AS9102.
  • Conduct weekly meetings to reduce cost of poor quality and red rack dispositions.

Raytheon’s Quality and Mission Assurance team in Tucson, AZ, is looking for an experienced Factory Quality Engineer to join the Effectors Operations Quality team supporting a face paced, multi value stream factory. The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter capable of driving quality requirements, manufacturing objectives, continuous improvement, and achieving results in a matrixed environment.

You will support a manufacturing effort that requires the ability to operate in a challenging and dynamic environment where successful quality execution is a key contributor to overall success.

The position is based in Tucson, AZ and requires onsite presence (relocation not offered).

What You Will Do
  • Verify product and process compliance with respect to contractual, technical, industry, AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and internal policies
  • Develop strong working relationships with the touch labor, factory leadership, program leadership, and DCMA
  • Regular data analysis; development and usage of actionable metrics. Generation and publication of Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) metrics.
  • Facilitate and lead cross-functional team in failure analysis, Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations, including identifying non-conformances, providing solutions, tracking issues to closure and leading Corrective Action Boards (CAB)
  • Ensure identification, physical control, and disposition of non-conforming material and facilitate Material Review Board (MRB) when necessary
  • Support work instruction development and maintenance activities by reviewing work instructions, test instructions, auditing processes, and assuring configuration management
  • Development and maintenance of inspection instructions, ensuring inspection instructions meet the technical data package requirements and meet production needs
  • Development and release of First Article Inspections (FAIs) in accordance with AS9102
  • Conduct weekly meetings to help reduce cost of poor quality and facilitate timely red rack dispositions
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of prior relevant experience specifically in Quality, Operations, Engineering or related technical discipline
  • Experience with interpreting engineering drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and/or consumable materials control
  • Manufacturing process experience in one of the following areas (assembly, inspection, test)
  • Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection Requirements
  • Experience with AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality management systems
  • The ability to obtain and maintain an ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) clearance prior to the start date.
  • Ability to obtain U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Competency and experience in a relevant technical discipline with understanding of engineering principles and design analysis techniques
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams in auditing process and product/process improvements in the factory or at suppliers
  • Experience in Product/Process Failure Modes & Affects Analysis, Regression Analysis
  • Experience with AS9145 - Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  • High computer proficiency, including skills working with Microsoft Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
  • Experience in PRISM, CABS, Business Warehouse, and RCAS
  • ASQ Certifications preferred

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
