Sr. Project Manager – Digital Services BD Lead

Location: Flexible (Hybrid or 100% Remote, Approved States)

Compensation: $150,000 - $180,000 annually (negotiable based on experience) *Position is eligible for sales incentives.

Spheros Environmental is looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead the advancement of web-based digital services and modeling within the water sector, working across Spheros’ offerings to expand innovative solutions for existing and new clients while introducing and applying new technologies relevant to water resources. This role combines deep technical expertise in water resources with business development, project management, and leadership responsibilities, driving growth in digital service delivery and market expansion.

Key Responsibilities
Technical
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in water resources and provide support to adjacent teams on digital integration needs.
  • Lead technical contributions to client deliverables, including preparation of reports, analyses, and recommendations.
  • Define and scope technical approaches for new projects, incorporating emerging technologies where appropriate.
  • Oversee delivery of projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordination of multidisciplinary teams and subconsultants.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, in writing and verbally.
  • Manage quality control reviews and support continuous improvement efforts across the project portfolio.
  • Collaborate with internal staff and industry peers to strengthen consulting services and technical expertise.
  • Promote a culture of innovation by encouraging new ideas, supporting professional growth, and integrating innovative practices into project delivery.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support organizational goals.
Business Development
  • Drive the growth of web-based and digital services within the water sector, identifying opportunities for innovation and market expansion.
  • Lead the development of proposals that integrate digital solutions across Spheros’ service areas, collaborating with technical leads and marketing staff.
  • Develop detailed proposals, estimates, and teaming arrangements for large or complex pursuits, ensuring alignment with client needs and organizational goals.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships to support retention, business development, and long‑term growth.
  • Contribute to strategic planning for digital services growth, including business development initiatives, regional market analysis, and name recognition strategies.
  • Engage actively in the professional community through thought leadership, presentations, and participation in industry organizations and events.
  • Support business development activities, including client outreach, networking, and marketing initiatives.
Leadership / Management
  • Build, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team focused on delivering innovative digital services to clients.
  • Serve as a thought leader in advancing digital solutions for water resource sectors such as flood management, water supply, and hydropower.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, learning, and entrepreneurial initiative across the digital team.
  • Guide staff in assessing risk management and business impacts when implementing process improvements and delivering projects on scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Support professional growth through training, day‑to‑day coaching, and participation in formal mentorship programs, fostering a commitment to lifelong learning.
Project Management
  • Manage overall project delivery, ensuring profitability, risk mitigation, client satisfaction, and on‑time, on‑budget completion.
  • Provide high‑level input on technical solutions, collaborating with design teams, clients, and subconsultant partners to develop and communicate the best recommendations.
  • Actively manage project scope, including review of out‑of‑scope requests and additional services, to prevent scope creep.
  • Review and approve client invoices, monitor financial performance, and prepare strategic plans to support project success.
  • Direct and guide project teams, leveraging planning and delivery expertise to inform recommendations and maintain schedules.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with clients, agencies, authorities, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and positive relationships.
  • Represent clients at public meetings as needed, maintaining professionalism and advancing client interests.
Client Service
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through project delivery, networking, and ongoing engagement.
  • Collaborate with senior staff to cross‑market and integrate services, identifying opportunities to expand business with existing clients.
  • Develop trusted partnerships by demonstrating active listening, teamwork, and a balance of confidence and humility.
  • Manage challenging discussions with clients, subconsultants, contractors, and other stakeholders with professionalism and tact.
  • Analyze client needs and circumstances to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree and/or equivalent experience.
  • 15+ years, 5+ years of PM experience.
  • Professional Engineer, Professional Geologist, Professional Hydrologist, PM or other relevant Certification Preferred.
  • Experience with scientific software, Microsoft Suite, Google Earth, Company Software (ERP, CRM, HRM etc.), GIS and programming where applicable.
