Qualifications

Senior Project Manager – Hydrogeologist

Location: 100% Remote (Minneapolis-Saint Paul, MN)

Compensation: $120,000 - $160,000 annually

Spheros Environmental is seeking a passionate and highly technical Senior Project Manager – Hydrogeologist to join our Midwest team. This position plays a critical leadership role, combining technical project execution, client engagement, and team development. The ideal candidate brings deep hydrogeologic expertise, proven project management experience, and a strong drive to mentor junior staff.

You will support a range of projects across the Midwestern United States and collaborate on initiatives throughout the Western United States.

Key Responsibilities
Project Management
  • Lead hydrogeologic and water resource projects from concept through completion.
  • Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Negotiate and review contracts in collaboration with the Regional Director.
  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring quality and timeliness.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Solve complex technical problems individually and collaboratively with regional team members.
Client Engagement and Business Development
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with public, private, and industrial clients.
  • Lead or support the preparation of proposals and scopes of work.
  • Identify and pursue strategic business opportunities and new markets.
  • Help clients define problems, evaluate options, and implement tailored, data-driven solutions.
  • Collaborate with the South-Central team to expand our regional presence.
Team Leadership and Mentorship
  • Provide technical oversight and quality control for deliverables prepared by junior staff.
  • Offer coaching and regular feedback to support career development and skill-building.
  • Identify and create growth opportunities for team members.
  • Promote a collaborative, inclusive work environment.
  • Support onboarding and integration of new hires.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 12+ years of experience in hydrogeology and/or water resources.
  • Licensure/Certification: A Professional Geologist (PG) certification, or a Professional Engineer (PE) or desire/ability to obtain certification in the state(s) worked.
  • Education: Bachelor degree in geology, hydrogeology, or related field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with tools such as MODFLOW, Leapfrog Works, AqteSolv, ArcGIS Desktop/Pro, Python, and/or database software; strong presentation skills.
  • Experience with groundwater resource evaluations, high-capacity well siting, wellfield design, and hydrogeologic investigations.
  • Existing client relationships and experience in business development preferred.
  • Valid Driver's license with a good driving record.
