Job description

Pay Range: $93,574 - $121,646 annual compensation

Workdays & Hours: Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm; Remote work may be available after one year of service.

Fort Worth Water is seeking a Senior Professional Engineer to lead and manage complex projects within our water and wastewater infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale municipal systems, utilizing your expertise in civil engineering to design, plan, and implement critical infrastructure projects. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, oversee project lifecycles, and contribute to the sustainable growth of one of the fastest-growing cities in the U.S.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of professional civil engineering experience as a registered professional engineer of which two years must be within or related to the area of assigned responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Some proficiency with water or sewer models (InfoWater, WaterGEMS, or EPANET)
  • Six years experience in either development, design or operation of water or wastewater system

The Senior Professional Engineer job responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing developer studies for adequate capacity in the water and sewer system
  • Water and sewer modeling in support of development and wholesale customer growth
  • Wholesale water and sewer capacity analysis
  • Assist in updating, maintaining, and improving the horizontal asset Risk Based Assessment model
  • Analyzing specific regions to determine ultimate needs and layout of water or sewer lines
  • Project management or assistance in planning related projects, including Master Plan updates and Impact Fee studies
  • General trouble-shooting or analysis for internal stakeholders. This includes collaborating with Capital Delivery to ensure projects are appropriately designed. Collaboration with Field Operations will require pulling existing SCADA or flow meter data to perform I&I analysis and solve unstructured problems.
  • Provide guidance for development to external stakeholders.

Physical Demands:

Light Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
