Job Summary

The Sr. Production Supervisor oversees and provides direction for the production supervisors and lead persons concerning the day-to-day activities of beef processing operations to meet GSF objectives and achieve a high level of customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  1. Coordinates and monitors daily beef processing/cooked operations, analyzes operations, takes corrective actions, provides constructive feedback, and monitors costs and expenses to achieve meat division and GSF productivity and quality objectives, ensuring compliance with GSF and regulatory agency regulations. (50%)
  2. Supervises daily activities of production supervisors, providing instruction, training, and performance feedback to ensure production efficiency and quality objectives are met or exceeded. (10%)
  3. Identifies and resolves process operational issues, facilitates equipment problems, and maintains quality, productivity, and safety by utilizing available resources (QA/Sanitation/Maintenance Supervisors). (10%)
  4. Enforces safety standards and quality procedures to ensure adherence to safety rules and quality specifications. (10%)
  5. Implements continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and productivity through new ideas, process improvements, and planning for upcoming equipment or process changes. (10%)
  6. Communicates routinely with all meat department resources (Director/Manager/QA/Sanitation/Maintenance) to promote smooth operations, enhance understanding of GSF policies, and ensure compliance with production policies and procedures. (10%)
  7. Performs other related duties as necessary.
Leadership/Management Responsibility

Oversees daily floor operations for up to 50 subordinates, ensuring accuracy of inventories, production scheduling, safety, efficiency, and analysis to maintain high levels of efficiency, productivity, and quality.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Certification: AA degree in food science or business administration from an accredited vocational, technical, or junior college.

Experience: 3 to 6 years of relevant manufacturing experience with supervisory or lead responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of beef processing and formulation concepts (Expert), supervisory concepts (Journey), and food safety (Journey).
  • Budgeting and basic PC software skills.
  • Ability to supervise, motivate, communicate effectively, resolve problems early, and work in a team-oriented environment.
