Assistant Supervisor, Preventive Maintenance 2nd shift

Position Title: Assistant Supervisor, Preventive Maintenance 2nd shift

Job Summary:

Preventative Maintenance is seeking a 2nd shift Assistant Supervisor! The hours are from 3:30pm to 12:00am. This role involves on-site supervision and coordination of the maintenance efforts at the Preventive Maintenance shop serving Auburn University. Reporting to the Supervisor, Preventive Maintenance, the person will coordinate daily tasks of a skilled trades workforce, plan and execute preventative maintenance, and repair building deficiencies to keep campus facilities operational, supporting the university's academic, research, and outreach missions.

A 10% shift differential is paid for hours worked between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., provided at least four hours are worked during this period.

Essential Functions:
  1. Coordinate daily tasks of university multi-trades personnel and contractors, ensuring safety, timeliness, and compliance with standards and regulations.
  2. Assist in diagnosing problems, performing repairs, and replacing parts related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Provide technical support and monitor repairs.
  3. Maintain accurate data in work management systems, respond to client inquiries, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  4. Ensure quality and responsiveness of maintenance activities, including emergency responses outside of normal hours.
  5. Keep records of work activities, supplies, and equipment; communicate with the supervisor about departmental activities; assist in developing procedures and updates.
  6. Coordinate maintenance activities across departments, contractors, and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution.
  7. Participate in recruiting, interviewing, and performance evaluations for multi-trade staff.
  8. Meet with clients to understand facility needs, plan preventative maintenance, and support budget and material management.
  9. Maintain required training and certifications; perform other related tasks as assigned.
  10. Provide full supervisory responsibilities, including training, evaluation, and employment decisions.

Minimum Qualifications:

- High School Diploma or equivalent

- 5 years of experience in construction and trades

- Valid Driver's License

Substitution: Additional education can substitute for experience at a rate of one year of relevant education per year of experience.

Minimum Skills, Licenses, and Certifications:
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, blueprints, and construction principles
  • Experience with work order systems and Microsoft Office
  • Effective communication skills
