Job Description
The Process Engineer is primarily responsible for interfacing with sales and customers to define requirements and specifications. They utilize management tools to establish timelines, build action item lists, assign responsibilities, set completion dates, and achieve milestones. Additionally, they provide technical assistance and engineering support to the manufacturing floor, assist in developing processes, and collaborate with other Process Engineers on new process development.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Complete projects, report status, document lessons learned, and utilize project management tools effectively.
- Lead flawless launch activities, participate in feasibility meetings, FMEA, DFM, print review, tool design review, and Kaizen events using cross-functional teams.
- Support the quoting team in determining efficient manufacturing methods and tool designs for competitive RFQ responses.
- Interface with sales and customers to clarify requirements and specifications.
- Work closely with tooling vendors for mold builds meeting cost, quality, and delivery expectations.
- Execute validation and qualification protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ) for new and existing products, equipment, tooling, and processes.
- Develop new processes, sampling activities, tooling, and manufacturing concepts to meet customer expectations on cost, quality, and delivery.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing to ensure quality production and timely delivery.
- Lead process improvement and waste elimination initiatives through lean principles and continuous improvement events.
- Collaborate with Quality Control to generate and update project documentation, including control plans, work instructions, and troubleshooting guides.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related science field.
- 3-5 years of experience in rubber and/or silicone molding.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Minitab or similar statistical software; experience with SOLIDWORKS or CAD is a plus; familiarity with Visual ERP.
- Experience in medical devices is preferred.
Physical Demands
- Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Frequent lifting/moving up to 25 pounds; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive wrist/finger motions.
Work Environment
- Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Potential work in warehouse and cleanroom environments following safety and cleanliness guidelines.
