Job summary

Domtar's packaging mill is seeking a Sr Process Control Engineer in Kingsport, TN. You will optimize the distributed control system (DCS) across the mill and plan/design new control applications.

You will collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, and management, with mentorship to support growth and development. The role requires a strong background in ABB/Valmet DCS, instrumentation, and safety, with extensive experience in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S./M.S. in Electrical Engineering.
• Ten years of manufacturing experience (preferably paper).
• Five years with ABB and/or Valmet distributed control systems (DCS).
• Ability to provide on-call, after-hours and weekend coverage.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
• Technical writing and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Optimize existing mill control systems.
• Plan, design and implement control systems and new applications.
• Guide Maintenance and Electrical teams during technical troubleshooting of mill control systems.
• Collaborate with all organizational levels.
• Be a safety advocate and lead by example.
• Identify root causes, implement permanent corrective actions and document in mill-wide database.
