Job summary

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience with animal care and control or related field.
  • Must obtain Animal Control Officer Basic Certification within six months of hire.
  • Must possess or obtain an Euthanasia Certification within four months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with customers, partners and stakeholders to resolve complaints and violations.
  • Evaluate animals for adoption and assist with matching with adopters.
  • Provide leadership and training to staff/volunteers on procedures and accuracy.
  • Maintain daily, weekly, monthly and annual records.
  • Assist with prioritizing assignments and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Build effective working relationships within the team and with the public.
  • Perform administrative duties using shelter software and handling money.
  • Assist with cleaning to maintain a welcoming environment at the Adoption Center.
  • Transport animals using City vehicles as assigned.

Pay Range: $24.67 - $30.83/hr. | $51,308- $64,135 annual compensation

Workdays & Hours: Scheduled days rotate. Shifts are typically scheduled 9a-6p; Weekend/Holiday work required. Occasional Mandatory overtime.

A Senior Code Compliance Officer position is available with The City of Fort Worth Code Compliance department, Animal Care and Control Division. This position will represent the City of Fort Worth by providing professional, courteous, quality of care for animals at our Alliance PetSmart Everyday Adoption Center. This position functions as lead over Animal Shelter Technicians at the EAC to ensure adoption goals and customer service measures are met.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/ GED
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience with animal care and control, animal welfare, or related experience depending on assignment
  • Must be able to obtain an Animal Control Officer Basic Certification through the Texas Department of State Health Services within six (6) months of hire.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain an Euthanasia Certification within four (4) months of hire
  • Must pass Drug Screen, Physical

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of customer service and administrative experience
  • Two (2) years of municipal shelter experience and proficient use of PetPoint shelter software system
  • Two (2) years of management or leadership experience

The Sr. Code Compliance Officer job responsibilities include:

  • Interacting frequently with customers, partners and other stakeholders to facilitate resolution to complaints and violations
  • Evaluates animals for adoption and assists with matching animals to appropriate homes based on behavior, needs, and adopter lifestyle
  • Providing leadership and training to new and existing staff/volunteers to ensure use of proper procedures, methods, techniques and accuracy
  • Maintaining daily, weekly, monthly and annual records
  • Assist Supervisor with tasks such as prioritizing and seeing the completion of assignments; and maintaining a healthy and safe working environment
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Performing administrative duties, which may include utilizing shelter software, answering phones, providing public information, creating social media content, counting and handling money and directing interoffice paperwork in closeout routine
  • Assisting with cleaning to ensure a clean and welcoming environment for the people and animals within the Everyday Adoption Center
  • Driving City vehicles to transport animals from multiple locations as assigned

Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises.

Heavy Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
