Job summary

Central Transport LLC is seeking a hands-on operations supervisor for our Chicago Ridge outbound dock. You will oversee a 250-door facility segment, manage up to 30 local drivers and dock personnel, and apply independent judgment to optimize loads and schedules.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership, a high technology aptitude, and excellent communication skills, with experience in cross-docking or shipping environments.

• Provide leadership and accountability to drivers and dock staff.

Shift: 2:00pm - 12:00am, Mon-Fri (2nd Shift)

Salary: Up to $80,000 + quarterly bonus (10%)

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in a transportation, cross docking, or shipping and receiving environment (preferably within the LTL industry)
• Familiar with customs and cross-border transportation
• Strong leadership qualities
• Desire to surround customer with excellence in service
• High aptitude for technology
• The ability to multi-task while being detail oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• An Associates or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred but not required

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee outbound operations within a 250-door freight facility for your designated section of the dock. This includes the process of loading, managing forklift traffic, and overseeing proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Manage up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to achieve a designated production schedule.
• Utilizing your independent judgement to build loads based on available labor and freight levels.
• Ensure proper load of carriers by monitoring the cube and weight of trailers
• Provide leadership and accountability to a team of drivers, dock workers and dock hand.
• Monitor dock production, ensuring facility Key Performance Indicator goals are met and/or exceeded.
• Monitor hours and overtime.
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards.
• Ensure company operational model compliance.
• Support a culture of excellence in quality of product to internal and external customers
