Job summary

Central Transport is seeking a reliable terminal supervisor to oversee outbound operations at our Charlotte, NC location. You will manage loading, forklift traffic, and palletized freight, while guiding up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock staff to hit schedules.

The ideal candidate will have transportation experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and a high aptitude for technology. A degree is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Experience in transportation, cross docking, or shipping and receiving environments (preferably LTL).
• Familiar with customs and cross-border transportation.
• Strong leadership qualities and drive for customer excellence.
• High aptitude for technology and ability to multi-task while remaining detail oriented.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee outbound operations for your designated section of the terminal dock.
• Manage forklift traffic and proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Lead up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to meet production schedules.
• Use independent judgment to build loads based on labor and freight levels.
• Monitor cube and weight to ensure proper load of trailers.
• Provide leadership to drivers, dock workers, and dock hand.
• Track dock production and ensure KPI goals are met or exceeded.
• Monitor hours and overtime and maintain safety standards compliant with DOT/OSHA.

LOCATION: 601 Johnson Rd., Charlotte, NC 28206

Shift: 11:00AM - 9:00PM Monday - Friday

Salary: $60,000-$75,000

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in a transportation, cross docking, or shipping and receiving environment (preferably within the LTL industry)
• Familiar with customs and cross-border transportation
• Strong leadership qualities
• Desire to surround customer with excellence in service
• High aptitude for technology
• The ability to multi-task while being detail oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• An Associates or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred but not required

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee outbound operations for your designated section of the terminal dock
• This includes the process of loading, managing forklift traffic, and overseeing proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Manage up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to achieve a designated production schedule.
• Utilizing your independent judgement to build loads based on available labor and freight levels.
• Ensure proper load of carriers by monitoring the cube and weight of trailers
• Provide leadership and accountability to a team of drivers, dock workers and dock hand.
• Monitor dock production, ensuring facility Key Performance Indicator goals are met and/or exceeded.
• Monitor hours and overtime.
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards.
• Ensure company operational model compliance.
• Support a culture of excellence in quality of product to internal and external customers
