Job summary

Central Transport LLC is seeking a dedicated operations leader to oversee outbound activities at a Charlotte terminal. You will supervise forklift operations, loading, and palletized freight, coordinating with dock personnel to maintain an efficient workflow.

You will manage up to 30 drivers and dock staff, applying independent judgment to load plans based on labor and freight levels, while ensuring compliance with DOT/OSHA standards and safety goals.

Qualifications

• Experience in transportation, cross docking, or shipping/receiving environment.
• Familiar with customs and cross-border transportation.
• Strong leadership qualities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Oversee outbound operations for your section of the terminal dock, including loading, forklift traffic, and palletized freight sorting.
• Manage up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to meet production schedules.
• Use independent judgment to build loads based on labor and freight availability.
• Ensure proper loading of carrier trailers by monitoring cube and weight.
• Provide leadership to drivers, dock workers, and dock hands; uphold safety standards.
• Monitor dock production to meet or exceed KPI goals and labor hours.

LOCATION: 601 Johnson Rd., Charlotte, NC 28206

Shift: 11:00AM - 9:00PM Monday - Friday

Salary: $60,000-$75,000

Ideal Candidate Requirements

• Experience in a transportation, cross docking, or shipping and receiving environment (preferably within the LTL industry)
• Familiar with customs and cross-border transportation
• Strong leadership qualities
• Desire to surround customer with excellence in service
• High aptitude for technology
• The ability to multi-task while being detail oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• An Associates or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred but not required

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee outbound operations for your designated section of the terminal dock This includes the process of loading, managing forklift traffic, and overseeing proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Manage up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to achieve a designated production schedule.
• Utilizing your independent judgement to build loads based on available labor and freight levels.
• Ensure proper load of carriers by monitoring the cube and weight of trailers
• Provide leadership and accountability to a team of drivers, dock workers and dock hand.
• Monitor dock production, ensuring facility Key Performance Indicator goals are met and/or exceeded.
• Monitor hours and overtime.
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards.
• Ensure company operational model compliance.
• Support a culture of excellence in quality of product to internal and external customers
