Job summary

Central Transport seeks an experienced terminal supervisor to oversee outbound operations and dock activities in Portland. You will manage drivers and dock staff, optimize loads, and ensure safety and DOT/OSHA compliance while driving on-time performance.

The role requires strong leadership, transportation experience, and excellent communication. This is a full-time, on-site position with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Oversee outbound operations for the designated terminal dock section including loading, forklift traffic, and palletized freight sorting.
• Manage up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to meet production schedules.
• Use independent judgement to build loads based on labor and freight levels.
• Ensure proper trailer loading by monitoring cube and weight.
• Provide leadership and accountability to drivers and dock staff.
• Monitor dock production to meet or exceed KPI goals.
• Monitor hours and overtime for the team.
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with DOT/OSHA standards.
• Ensure compliance with company operating model and policies.
• Support a culture of excellence in product service for customers

Shift: Monday - Friday 4:30pm - 2:30am Salary: $60,000-$75,000 + Bonus

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in a transportation, cross docking, or shipping and receiving environment (preferably within the LTL industry)
• Familiar with customs and cross-border transportation
• Strong leadership qualities
• Desire to surround customer with excellence in service
• High aptitude for technology
• The ability to multi-task while being detail oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• An associate or bachelor’s Degree, preferred but not required

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee outbound operations for your designated section of the terminal dock This includes the process of loading, managing forklift traffic, and overseeing proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Manage up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to achieve a designated production schedule.
• Utilizing your independent judgement to build loads based on available labor and freight levels.
• Ensure proper load of carriers by monitoring the cube and weight of trailers
• Provide leadership and accountability to a team of drivers, dock workers and dock hand.
• Monitor dock production, ensuring facility Key Performance Indicator goals are met and/or exceeded.
• Monitor hours and overtime.
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards.
• Ensure company operational model compliance.
• Support a culture of excellence in quality of product to internal and external customers
