Principal Responsibilities
  1. Approving, authorizing, and releasing all work activities within assigned facilities prior to commencement.
  2. Maintaining awareness of facility status and overseeing activities to ensure compliance with Safety Basis and procedural requirements.
  3. Establishing controls for safe access to facilities, including rooftops.
  4. Maintaining a formal facility log of significant events and ensuring its availability for review and backup.
  5. Reviewing and concurring with the facility Configuration Management Plan (CMP) when required.
  6. Serving as a core (voting) member of the Project Review Committee (PRC) and as a voting member of the Senior Management PRC for facility-related reviews.
  7. Managing and controlling facility-related DOE Property, including government furnished equipment.
  8. Preparing and maintaining safety basis documentation such as hazards analyses, authorization agreements, and safety evaluations.
  9. Implementing safeguards and security measures related to nuclear materials.
  10. Supporting readiness assessments and serving as issuing authority for work permits.
Additional Responsibilities for Nuclear Facility Managers
  1. Authorizing maintenance, calibration, testing, or inspection activities on safety systems.
  2. Making safety and design feature operability determinations.
  3. Reviewing safety documentation and approving changes to safety systems and design features.
  4. Establishing and maintaining surveillance schedules and tracking activities.
  5. Preparing work packages and ensuring compliance with safety requirements.
Job Knowledge
  • Understanding of facilities managed under the Prime Contract.
  • Facility boundaries, interface management, and shared systems.
  • Knowledge of facility safety, radiological protection, and environmental compliance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • 12+ years of facilities management experience.
  • Successful completion of UCOR FM qualification standards.
Level Specific Responsibilities
  • Managing multiple complex nuclear/radiological facilities.
  • Maintaining facility logs and schedules for surveillance and testing.
  • Reviewing work plans and ensuring safety compliance.
  • Establishing access controls and safety documentation.
  • Serving as the permit issuing authority.
