Job summary

Crawford & Company in Ridgeland, MS is seeking an experienced Multi-Line Claims Adjuster for a hybrid role including remote work and on-site driving. The position requires 3+ years of adjusting experience and strong investigation, negotiation, and claims handling skills.

You will conduct field inspections, interview claimants and witnesses, assess coverage and damages, negotiate settlements, and prepare detailed reports. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2+ years in at least 2 lines of business handling complex claims.
• Experience in claims investigation, liability evaluation, and coverage determination.
• Familiarity with legal and medical terminology.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Investigate coverage, liability, and damages with parties involved per client requests.
• Interview claimants and witnesses, review medical reports, manage evidence and forms.
• Negotiate settlements within client parameters and authority.
• Present evidence at proceedings and prepare reports as required.
• Coordinate regulatory filings, salvage disposal, and subrogation when appropriate.
• Mentor less experienced adjusters and manage multiple claims across lines.
• Maintain knowledge through continuing education and comply with standards.
• Travel for on-site investigations as needed.

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of related adjusting experience
• Strong investigation, negotiation, and claims handling skills
• Ability to work independently and conduct field inspections

Responsibilities

• Investigate coverage, liability, compensability and damages with all parties involved in a claim as requested by our customers or Crawford and Company or a subsidiary thereof.
• Investigate claims by interviewing claimants, witnesses, establish claim reserves, handle evidence, obtain and interpret medical reports, official reports and claim forms, manages litigation, and attend/participate at mediation, trials or hearings.
• Negotiates and settles claims within client service parameters and authority levels by obtaining demands and making offers to claimants.
• Presents evidence at legal proceedings, producing reports and other documents as evidence.
• Provide filings with regulatory agencies, disposing of salvage and pursuing subrogation when appropriate.
• Prepare reports by collecting and summarizing information required by the client and obtained through investigation.
• Self starter capable of working alone or with others.
• Maintains company reputation and insurance product integrity by complying with Federal and state regulations, client and Crawford and Company service standards.
• Assist / Mentor less experienced adjusters with claims handling, including light supervisory responsibilities.
• Maintain expected case loads in multiple lines of business while meeting established service delivery, production, quality, sales and educational objectives.
• May be required to work on-call during off work hours to respond to emergency on-site investigations.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education in multiple lines of business.
• Maintain acceptable product quality through compliance with service standards and compliance with internal quality control initiatives.
• Occasional sales calls by meeting with local industry related companies or adjusters to develop new business and maintain existing business.
• Uphold and project the corporate image by participating in industry organizations and functions.
• Ability to multi—task in a time sensitive environment and handle job responsibilities with a sense of urgency.
• Upholds the Crawford Code of Business Conduct at all times.
• Participates in special projects or performs duties in other areas as requested.

Qualifications

• College degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred 2 years of experience in each of at least 2 lines of business handling complex claims. Prior multi-line experience required.
• Personal computer, typing and keyboarding skills.
• Demonstrated technical knowledge of complex commercial policy coverage investigation, liability evaluation, determination of damages or compensability investigations in multiple lines of business.
• Familiarity with legal and medical terminology within specific business lines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Good analytical ability and mathematical aptitude.
• Good attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to gather and analyze information then determine and implement the appropriate course of action.
• Good interpersonal and sales skills.
• Licensing as required by state and local jurisdictions. Must have a valid driver's license. Additional continuing education as required by Crawford Educational Services and as applicable for jurisdictions in which claims are adjusted or investigated.
• A variable schedule including on-call may be required. Depending on case load you may be required to work beyond normal business hours when necessary.
• Travel may be required during/outside of normal business hours when necessary.
