About the Role
The Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. They act as a consultant on customer sites and lead mobile diesel technicians.
Duties
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment (electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutch, differentials, etc.).
- Diagnose, adjust and repair truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, air conditioning, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutch, differentials, etc.
- Inspect, test, and use diagnostic instruments to identify malfunctions.
- Road test vehicles to confirm proper operation.
- Identify problems and evaluate alternative solutions using judgment.
- Manage parts inventory, reconcile company‑issued equipment.
- Maintain, operate and pre/post‑trip inspect company‑issued service vehicle.
- Work with clients to assess needs, provide assistance and resolve issues.
- Prioritize assigned tasks and allocate time effectively.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lift and jacks.
- Document work on Repair Orders using iOS device and TRAIT application.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation.
- Work independently, manage daily schedule.
- Maintain productivity within standard repair times.
- Obtain parts from approved vendors as needed.
- Communicate with management via email or phone for repair estimates and purchase orders.
- Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of related experience (alternatives: degree/certification beyond HS diploma/GED with 3 years, or 7 years experience).
- Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
- Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
- Obtain 608/609 certification within 18 months.
- Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical; a valid DOT medical card with ≥4 months remaining may replace the physical.
- Must be 21 years or older due to interstate operating authority regulations.
- Valid state driver’s license and ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File.

Compensation
Hourly pay range: $32.26 – $48.41 per hour. Base rate may vary by location and candidate qualifications. Additional compensation may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or incentive programs.
