Fleet Services is currently hiring a Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician.
The Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. Heavily relied upon for advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs by Mobile Diesel Technician I/II. Considered the Lead on jobsites by customers and Technicians. Functions as a consultant on the customer's behalf. A successful Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician complies with all company policies and achieves high-level performance metrics.
DUTIES:
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT Inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various types of truck equipment including, but not limited to: Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment including, but not limited to: Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Air conditioning systems, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
- Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
- Identify problems, determine the relevance of information, and generate solutions using sound judgment.
- Manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck, including periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate the service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre-/post-trip inspections.
- Work with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
- Manage concurrent tasks, prioritize work, and allocate time effectively.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, Diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
- Document work according to company standards, upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings using company-issued devices and proprietary applications.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation promptly.
- Work independently, manage daily schedule, and maintain productivity within standard repair times.
- Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary for repairs.
- Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone for approvals, purchase orders, and notes.
- Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and regulations including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
- Maintain the service truck, conduct safety checks, and perform daily pre-/post-trip inspections.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma/GED and 5 years’ experience in a related field, or alternative combinations of education and experience as specified.
- Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
- Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
- Obtain 608/609 certifications within 18 months.
- Pass a DOT-regulated background screening and physical prior to employment.
- Current DOT medical card (or valid DOT physical) required.
- Must be at least 21 years old, with a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
