Qualifications

Hourly base pay rate is $31.49 - $47.26/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Fleet Services is the leading provider of on-site mobile maintenance and repair services nationwide, offering mobile on-site fleet service for light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers. We also service customers utilizing our 50+ nationwide service centers, providing accident repair, painting, refurbishment, and heavy mechanical repair. We support a 24/7 in-house call center and provide scheduled and unscheduled services to fleets anywhere, anytime.

We are currently hiring a Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician.

The Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light and advanced repairs, diagnostics, and other duties. They will be relied upon for advanced diagnostics and triage of complex repairs, functioning as the lead on jobsites and acting as a consultant for customers. A successful candidate will comply with all company policies and meet performance metrics.

DUTIES:

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on vehicles in a mobile environment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment using test instruments and road testing vehicles.
  • Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate solutions.
  • Manage parts inventory and perform reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and inspections.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and support teams, managing multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Use hand tools, diagnostic instruments, welding equipment, and lifts.
  • Document work performed and parts used using company tools and applications.
  • Complete all documentation accurately and timely.
  • Work independently, maintain productivity, and work within standard repair times.
  • Obtain parts from vendors as needed.
  • Communicate with management regarding repair estimates and findings.
  • Follow safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma/GED and 5 years’ experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
  • Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
  • Obtain 608/609 certifications within 18 months.
  • Pass a DOT-regulated background screening and physical.
  • Valid DOT medical card or equivalent documentation.
  • Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Certifications to Obtain Within 18 Months:

  • ASE T8 (PMI)
  • ASE 608/609

Preferred Certifications:

  • ASE T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, A8, L1, L2

Skills & Abilities:

  • Effective communication, physical ability to perform labor, problem-solving skills, and good judgment.
