Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center in Hartford, CT is seeking a Sr. Medical Technologist for the Automated Lab to oversee evening-shift operations.

You will work 40 hours weekly, with every-other weekend and rotating holidays, and may cover alternate shifts as needed. The role requires performing complex tests across chemistry, hematology, coagulation, microbiology, immunology and urinalysis; providing education to lab students; and maintaining inspection readiness to support our

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience; generalist across Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and Urinalysis.
• MT-ASCP certification required.

Join a team where your expertise drives diagnosis, innovation, and teaching. You would be responsible for oversight of operations on the evening shift in the Automated Lab.

What you will do:

• Performs a variety of complex laboratory tests and procedures on neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients according to established standards: maintains and/or calibrates scientific equipment.
• Provides teaching and education to lab students and other personnel.
• Responsible for maintaining inspection readiness at all times.

Position Hours:

• 40 hours, Evening Shift, every other weekend; rotating holidays

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology
• Must have a minimum of 5 years experience; Must have an understanding of all laboratory sections as a generalist that may include: Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Microbiology, immunology, and urinalysis. Knowledge of specimen processing, specimen handling and phlebotomy are needed.
• MT-ASCP
• Exhibits strong interpersonal skill; technically competent. Ability toadequately use, or learn to use, the department’s computerized system and its associated devices. Adaptability and flexibility necessary for work schedule and patient care requirements. Good command of the English language and medical terminology
• Must be able to cover alternate shifts (for call-offs, sicknesses, emergencies, other situations) and weekends and holidays as needed.
