Job summary

KBSO Consulting LLC in Carmel, Indiana, seeks a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to design complex MEPT systems, perform equipment sizing calculations, conduct field surveys, and guide projects from concept through construction administration.

Responsibilities include coordinating MEPT components in Revit and AutoCAD, writing design specifications, maintaining client relationships, meeting deadlines, and supporting continuing education and PE licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of related experience in MEPT design.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Design a variety of mechanical systems including temperature controls.
• Perform equipment sizing calculations and select appropriate gear.
• Conduct field surveys to determine project conditions.
• Coordinate MEPT components within Revit and AutoCAD.
• Produce construction documents for new buildings, renovations, and additions.
• Manage projects from concept through construction administration.
• Communicate effectively with clients and team members.

The duties and responsibilities of a Sr. Mechanical Engineer include but are not limited to:

• Ability to design a variety of basic to very complex mechanical systems including temperature controls
• Perform review of types of calculations required to design systems, including sizing of equipment and selecting appropriate mechanical equipment
• Conduct field surveys to determine existing project conditions
• Have the ability to meet fast-paced deadlines while maintaining quality design
• Reviews the development of designs for compliance with applicable codes, adopted engineering standards, and good engineering practices
• Cross-discipline coordination of MEPT components within Revit and AutoCAD
• Facilitate production of construction documents (drawing and specifications) for new buildings, renovations, and additions to existing facilities
• Communicating effectively with clients and internal team members in the design and specification development of mechanical building systems
• Ability to write and edit design specifications
• Managing projects from concept design through construction administration
• Building and maintaining positive client relationships
• Conduct construction site visits to ensure systems are installed per drawings and specifications
• Respond to contractor RFIs and review project shop drawings/submittals

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field
• Seven or more years of related experience
• Must possess a valid driver’s license

Preferred Skills

• Maintain or able to obtain a Professional Engineer License
• Graduate degree in engineering or related field of study
