About the Role:

The Senior Design Engineer will lead the design and delivery of aerospace and flight-worthy structures, mechanisms, and mechanical systems. This role involves supporting engineering activities from concept through development, validation, and detailed design, with a significant degree of autonomy. The focus is on design leadership, supporting new business development, and mentoring junior engineers with minimal oversight.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Conceptualize, develop, and design structures, mechanisms, and mechanical systems per customer requirements and standards.
2. Perform calculations, analysis, and tolerance stack-up assessments.
3. Support the engineering team while leading mechanical design efforts.
4. Lead design efforts on systems and sub-systems across multiple programs.
5. Assist in proposal development, quick-turn concept designs, and presentations using CAD models and illustrations.

Education/Experience:

• B.S. or M.S. Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Typically 6+ years of aerospace and/or defense experience.
• Exposure to electromechanical systems.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in leading product development tests, including qualification test series.
• Proficiency with data acquisition systems and instrumentation.
• Background in heat transfer, structural analysis, dynamics/kinematics, high-strength materials, CAD, and machine design.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks.
• Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
• Must be a U.S. Person and able to obtain or hold a DoD SECRET clearance.

Salary Range: $115K - $155K

The actual salary depends on factors such as location, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.

Location: On-site in Mukilteo, WA.
