Job summary

Ashton North LLC in the Kansas City area seeks a Sr. Manufacturing Area Manager to lead a core manufacturing area in a 24/7 operation with direct and indirect reports. You will report to the Plant Manager and drive safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives on a daily basis.

You will oversee scheduling, data collection, and performance metrics while coaching a team of supervisors and production staff to meet aggressive production goals and cost targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 5+ years of manufacturing operations management experience.
• Experience in process-oriented environments (chemical, coating, refinery, food, beverage, packaging, etc.).
• Strong safety-first mentality with CI experience, scrap reductions and line efficiency improvements.
• Proven ability to oversee direct and indirect reports.

Responsibilities

• Own safety, quality, KPIs, employee development, productivity, and continuous improvement for a delegated plant area.
• Participate in the management team to meet plant objectives and report data regularly.
• Optimize scheduling and changeover activities to improve throughput.
• Develop and attain production goals and measurable plant objectives.
• Coach, mentor, and develop direct and indirect reports; adjust staffing as needed.
• Identify process improvements to reduce scrap and increase efficiency and cost savings.

Fast-paced, process-oriented manufacturer is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Area Manager to lead an assigned manufacturing area in a 24/7/365 operation with direct and indirect reports. As the Sr. Manufacturing Area Manager, you will report to the Plant Manager and will have Production Supervisors reporting to you. Daily you will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Taking ownership of safety, quality, KPIs, employee development, productivity and continuous improvement of a delegated area of the plant
• Participating within the management team to meet plant objectives
• Completing daily, weekly and monthly reporting and data collection
• Optimizing scheduling and changeover activities
• Developing and attaining goals, objectives and targeted measurables of the plant related to production
• Holding others accountable to established goals and directives
• Identifying process improvements to decrease scrap, increase efficiencies and find cost savings
• Coaching, mentoring, developing and leading direct and indirect reports
• Adjusting manning as needed, based on production schedules and goals
• Completing root cause analysis and implementing countermeasures
• Other duties as directed by the manager

Candidates should enjoy working in a team environment, be able to hold others accountable and enjoy floor presence. Although more initially, individuals should enjoy spending up to 50% of their time on the manufacturing floor, supporting a 24/7/365 operation.

REQUIREMENTS for the Sr. Manufacturing Area Manager:

• Bachelor's degree, ideally in a technical field
• Minimum of five years of similar manufacturing operations management experience
• Experience working in process-oriented manufacturing environments (examples include chemical, coating, refinery, food, beverage, packaging, etc.)
• Passion for supporting a safety first mentality
• Experience completing CI functions, including scrap reductions, improving line efficiencies, etc.
• Experience overseeing direct and indirect reports
• Microsoft Office, specifically Excel

Skills preferred but NOT required:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
• ERP experience
• Experience working in highly automated environments
• Lean Certification
• Willing to relocate in the future for promotional opportunities
• Supervision experience in non-union work environments
